Principal DevOps Engineer (Hybrid Infrastructure)

About the role

Abstra, a nearshore tech talent services company, is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer with more than 10 years of hands-on experience designing, building and operating end-to-end CI/CD platforms in hybrid environments (AWS and on-premises). The role is fully remote, with working hours based on US Central and Eastern Time.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate a standardized CI/CD framework across Dev, QA, PartnerLab, Staging and Production, with promotion workflows, quality gates, artifact immutability and parity between AWS and on-premises.
• Implement progressive delivery with feature flags, canary deployments and blue-green rollouts, automated rollback and full release traceability.
• Integrate automated unit, integration, regression, security and performance testing into pipelines, with manual validation workflows and observability.
• Automate database schema versioning, migrations, rollbacks and validation, including data masking and PII anonymization in non-production environments.
• Define observability standards for logs, metrics and traces, with dashboards, alerting and deployment health signals.
• Embed security scanning, secrets management, least-privilege IAM, credential rotation and artifact integrity checks in pipelines.

Required profile

• More than 10 years of hands-on experience in CI/CD and hybrid infrastructure.
• Proven expertise in automation, reliability engineering, progressive delivery, security-by-design and platform standardization.
• Experience with AWS (mandatory) and hybrid infrastructure across on-premises VMs, bare-metal and internal networking platforms.
• Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server (mandatory), schema migration, data masking and anonymization.

Required skills

• AWS: ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch; Terraform.
• GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS and on-premises), Helm, feature flag platforms.
• Prometheus, Splunk, New Relic, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, Uptrends, PagerDuty, HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.
