Senior Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer

About the role

A client of Abstra, a nearshore tech talent services company, is looking for a Senior Microsoft Data Engineer to design and deliver modern data platform solutions for its Microsoft engineering projects. The role suits a hands-on technical leader who can turn architecture into production-ready solutions, act as a mentor and team player, and work independently within a growing consultancy on a path toward partnership. It is 100% remote, based in LATAM, with working hours aligned to US Central-Eastern time.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable data platforms, pipelines and lakehouse solutions
• Translate architecture into production-ready implementations independently
• Enable data science and reporting teams with high-quality, reliable data
• Implement automation, CI/CD and governance best practices
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize production environments
• Lead requirements gathering and manage delivery end to end
• Build client relationships, support sales efforts and help define reusable delivery patterns

Required profile

• 10+ years of consulting experience delivering data and analytics solutions
• Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar platforms
• Full lifecycle experience (architecture, build, deployment, support) in Agile/CI-CD environments
• Experience across data science, analytics and business teams, covering reporting and advanced analytics
• Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and stakeholder communication; self-directed and committed to documentation and reusable patterns

Required skills

• Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks or equivalent lakehouse platforms
• Spark-based processing (PySpark / Spark SQL)
• Cloud data pipelines (Fabric Pipelines, ADF or similar) and Azure ML pipelines
• Python or R, plus strong SQL
• Lakehouse design (medallion architecture), Power BI and reporting enablement
• CI/CD, DevOps practices, data governance, security and quality frameworks

Preferred certifications: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600), Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700), Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), Databricks or Spark certifications.
