Assistant Sommelier

About the role

The Assistant Sommelier will support the wine service at Jumby Bay Island, a luxury resort in the Caribbean. Working closely with the Sommelier, you will help maintain high standards of wine selection, purchasing, sales, and guest service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in selecting, purchasing, and managing the wine list.
• Provide basic wine knowledge and service guidance to front‑of‑house staff.
• Ensure accurate inventory control and reporting.
• Support guests with wine recommendations and service.
• Maintain compliance with resort standards and health regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of wines, vineyards, and wine regions.
• Minimum WSET Level 2 or equivalent wine qualification.
• Valid Antigua & Barbuda driver’s license.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Opera, Micros and SevenRooms systems.
• Experience with inventory management software.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team.
