Carpenter – Construction & Formwork Specialist

About the role

The Carpenter works with designated construction crews to fabricate and install concrete formwork and related elements, following the daily schedule provided by the Foreman and Superintendent.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate all concrete formwork elements according to Foreman instructions.
• Install wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and studwork using power saws and other construction equipment.
• Design and install cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall, and insulation using nail guns, hammers and related tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints and design specifications to ensure accurate construction.
• Select appropriate lumber by size and strength, calculate fastener requirements, and source materials within budget.
• Install windows, doors, siding, roofing, and other building components.
• Erect scaffolding and temporary structures to support workers during construction.
• Maintain accurate records of materials, labor costs, and project expenses.

Required skills

• Operation of power saws and construction equipment (nail guns, hammers).
• Use of hand tools such as chisels and manual saws.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Formwork fabrication and installation.
• Wood selection, cutting, and fastener calculation.
• Installation of drywall, insulation, windows, doors, and roofing.
• Scaffolding erection and safety compliance.
