Mason

About the role

The Mason will prepare and install masonry and related construction materials according to project scope, receiving daily jobsite schedules from the foreman and support from the superintendent.

Key responsibilities

• Perform skilled masonry work in construction and repair of buildings and structures.
• Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and natural stones following drawings and specifications.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and smoothing them.
• Mix mortar or grout to standard formulas ensuring proper consistency.
• Cut and shape bricks or stones to required dimensions using hand or power tools.
• Ensure accurate alignment and leveling using plumb bobs, levels, and straightedges.
• Conduct repairs on existing masonry structures.
• Maintain safety compliance and manage inventory of materials and tools.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in masonry preferred.
• Proven experience as a mason in the construction industry.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Physical stamina to work in various weather conditions and lift items up to 50 pounds.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
